Wednesdays 9.30-12 1 space left
Thursdays 9.30-12   sold out
 & 1-3.30 sold out

There's a few spaces left on each of my regular sessions. These 5 week blocks are themed and this term it's back to nature, embracing spring springing! We will be working from life and exploring various approaches to capturing plant forms. We will be using a range of materials including inks, charcoal, pencils, and colour to create expressive, experimental and observational drawings.

Sumptuous and Subtle: Pastel interiors

Friday 29 April 10-4pm
£55 (£40 concs)  sold out

The studio will be transformed into a Matisse and Vuillard inspired interior full of colour and pattern. We will start the day with warm ups, focusing on colour and then work on sustained pastel drawings which capture both the sumptuous and the subtle in colour and pattern combinations, creating our own gorgeous compositions by looking at how these 2 artists flatten the picture plane.

iPad Portraits

Saturday 7 May 10-4pm
Tutor Sarah McConkey
£55 (£40 concs) sold out

This course is for anyone who wants to explore the possibilities of digital drawing. We have an expert tutor, Sarah McConkey, who will take us through the process and familiarise us with Procreate and using Apple pencils. Working from images and from life, we will learn techniques of using line and building up layers of colour with the focus on drawing faces. We will also learn to make simple animations. No need to bring anything: iPads and pencils will be provided, though you may want to bring photos to work from.

Life Drawing: Paula Rego inspired

Saturday 28 May 10-4pm
Model: Omi
£67 (£48 concs) sold out

In 1994, Paula Rego made a series of works called Dog Women which depict a woman in a variety of animal-like poses in which she is simultaneously submissive and fiercely independent. We will spend the day drawing from poses which are inspired by these works. If you have not done life drawing before, this is a perfect opportunity to familiarise yourself with this discipline in a non judgemental, relaxed environment. If you are already experienced, it is an opportunity to be challenged and try some new approaches to drawing the human form.
