LUCKY DIP LIFE DRAWING
£68 per session
A life drawing day at DRAW is always a day to enjoy. Each session offers a different perspective on the subject. We look at artists who can inform our approach and encourage us to look and draw the human figure in new ways.
We have explored a wide range of drawing materials from the humble pencil, to charcoal, pastel, monoprinting and large scale ink drawings. Lucky dip life drawing means that you sign up for a surprise…and we promise you, whatever the day has in store, it will be an enjoyable learning experience!
Suitable for all levels of drawing experience: if you’ve not done life drawing before, this is an opportunity to learn the basics in a friendly, supportive environment. If you are more experienced, it is a day to experiment and explore new ways of working.
Tutored by either Jenny Purrett or Bernie with one of our regular models.
All materials, model fee and tuition included in the cost.
REFUNDS: Please note that the class sizes are small and consequently my margins are tight. This means that I can only give refunds if you cancel 7 dates before the event which allows time for me to advertise and fill the space. If for any reason, I need to cancel a course (eg. due to illness or adverse weather conditions) you will be given a full refund.
REGULAR WEEKLY COURSES
The next block of 5 weeks begins on w/c 8 January 2024
Cost: £135 for day time sessions, £85 for Tues evening sessions
Theme: The New Year is a time of reflection, taking stock, turning a new page, making intentions. Last January our theme was ‘New Year, New You’ and we explored new approaches to making self-portraits. This year I propose that we make another kind of self-portrait in the form of a handmade book. We will explore the particular ways we make our own marks through gestural drawing, discover our internal landscapes of imagination and memory, make drawing conversations with others and combine and develop the imagery we make into a book. I have invited paper artist and bookbinder, Yvette Ja to spend one of the 5 sessions helping us to do this. Join us on a creative journey of experimentation and discovery, using a range of materials, techniques and approaches.

Meet the artists:
Artist and teacher Bernadette Koranteng studied at the Royal Academy where she developed a life-long love for Life Drawing. This continues to inspire her work which is largely figurative, exploring personal narratives and themes.
Although she works in a range of media she sees Drawing as the backbone of everything and strives to share this love of Drawing and mark-making in her approach to teaching.
Printmaker Joanna Bourne has specialised in woodcut for over thirty years. Jo is
inspired by places where nature meets human activity – her garden, the park and
allotments. She is interested in exploring the way in which woodgrain can contribute
to a final design, and prints overlapping layers of transparent inks to create subtle
colours. Jo enjoys passing on her love of printmaking through teaching.
