Old Assembly House, Westgate Road, Newcastle
7-9 September 2017
Created in the faded grandeur of Westgate Road's Old Assembly House, Jenny Purrett uses found objects, discarded porcelain and glass as well as handcrafting pieces made from scrap materials. 'Assembled' alludes to the past history of the Assembly House, of meetings, dances and dinners. The tiny carefully arranged works are made in response to the crumbling, ornate fabric of the interior.
Made specifically for the Heritage Open Days, the work will be on show from the 7-9 September 2017.
Thursday and Friday: open 12.30-5.30
Saturday: Tours of the building at 11,12 and 2
